Adds a misc driver for Marvell CN10K DPI(DMA Engine) device's physical
function which initializes DPI DMA hardware's global configuration and
enables hardware mailbox channels between physical function (PF) and
it's virtual functions (VF). VF device drivers (User space drivers) use
this hw mailbox to communicate any required device configuration on it's
respective VF device. Accordingly, this DPI PF driver provisions the
VF device resources.
At the hardware level, the DPI physical function (PF) acts as a management
interface to setup the VF device resources, VF devices are only provisioned
to handle or control the actual DMA Engine's data transfer capabilities.

Pull documentation updates from Jonathan Corbet:
"Nothing hugely exciting happening in the documentation tree this time
around, mostly more of the usual:
- More Spanish, Italian, and Chinese translations
- A new script, scripts/checktransupdate.py, can be used to see which
commits have touched an (English) document since a given
translation was last updated.
- A couple of "best practices" suggestions (on Link: tags and
off-list discussions) that were not entirely at consensus level,
but I concluded they were close enough to accept.
- Some nice cleanups removing documentation for kernel parameters
that have not been recognized for ... a long time.

The user events trace subsystem uses the 0x2A/'*' code for ioctls. These
are published via the uapi/linux/user_events.h header file.
Add a line indicating user events as the owner of the 0x2A/'*' code and

This corresponds to the NT syscall NtCreateSemaphore().
Semaphores are one of three types of object to be implemented in this driver,
the others being mutexes and events.
An NT semaphore contains a 32-bit counter, and is signaled and can be acquired
when the counter is nonzero. The counter has a maximum value which is specified
at creation time. The initial value of the semaphore is also specified at
creation time. There are no restrictions on the maximum and initial value.
Each object is exposed as an file, to which any number of fds may be opened.
When all fds are closed, the object is deleted.
Objects hold a pointer to the ntsync_device that created them. The device's
reference count is driven by struct file.

Pull networking updates from Jakub Kicinski:
"Core & protocols:
- Large effort by Eric to lower rtnl_lock pressure and remove locks:
- Make commonly used parts of rtnetlink (address, route dumps
etc) lockless, protected by RCU instead of rtnl_lock.
- Add a netns exit callback which already holds rtnl_lock,
allowing netns exit to take rtnl_lock once in the core instead
of once for each driver / callback.
- Remove locks / serialization in the socket diag interface.
- Remove 6 calls to synchronize_rcu() while holding rtnl_lock.
- Remove the dev_base_lock, depend on RCU where necessary.
- Support busy polling on a per-epoll context basis. Poll length and
budget parameters can be set independently of system defaults.
- Introduce struct net_hotdata, to make sure read-mostly global
config variables fit in as few cache lines as possible.
- Add optional per-nexthop statistics to ease monitoring / debug of
ECMP imbalance problems.
- Support TCP_NOTSENT_LOWAT in MPTCP.
- Ensure that IPv6 temporary addresses' preferred lifetimes are long
enough, compared to other configured lifetimes, and at least 2 sec.
- Support forwarding of ICMP Error messages in IPSec, per RFC 4301.
- Add support for the independent control state machine for bonding
per IEEE 802.1AX-2008 5.4.15 in addition to the existing coupled
control state machine.
- Add "network ID" to MCTP socket APIs to support hosts with multiple
disjoint MCTP networks.
- Re-use the mono_delivery_time skbuff bit for packets which user
space wants to be sent at a specified time. Maintain the timing
information while traversing veth links, bridge etc.
- Take advantage of MSG_SPLICE_PAGES for RxRPC DATA and ACK packets.
- Simplify many places iterating over netdevs by using an xarray
instead of a hash table walk (hash table remains in place, for use
on fastpaths).
- Speed up scanning for expired routes by keeping a dedicated list.
- Speed up "generic" XDP by trying harder to avoid large allocations.
- Support attaching arbitrary metadata to netconsole messages.
Things we sprinkled into general kernel code:
- Enforce VM_IOREMAP flag and range in ioremap_page_range and
introduce VM_SPARSE kind and vm_area_[un]map_pages (used by
bpf_arena).
- Rework selftest harness to enable the use of the full range of ksft
exit code (pass, fail, skip, xfail, xpass).
Netfilter:
- Allow userspace to define a table that is exclusively owned by a
daemon (via netlink socket aliveness) without auto-removing this
table when the userspace program exits. Such table gets marked as
orphaned and a restarting management daemon can re-attach/regain
ownership.
- Speed up element insertions to nftables' concatenated-ranges set
type. Compact a few related data structures.
BPF:
- Add BPF token support for delegating a subset of BPF subsystem
functionality from privileged system-wide daemons such as systemd
through special mount options for userns-bound BPF fs to a trusted
& unprivileged application.
- Introduce bpf_arena which is sparse shared memory region between
BPF program and user space where structures inside the arena can
have pointers to other areas of the arena, and pointers work
seamlessly for both user-space programs and BPF programs.
- Introduce may_goto instruction that is a contract between the
verifier and the program. The verifier allows the program to loop
assuming it's behaving well, but reserves the right to terminate
it.
- Extend the BPF verifier to enable static subprog calls in spin lock
critical sections.
- Support registration of struct_ops types from modules which helps
projects like fuse-bpf that seeks to implement a new struct_ops
type.
- Add support for retrieval of cookies for perf/kprobe multi links.
- Support arbitrary TCP SYN cookie generation / validation in the TC
layer with BPF to allow creating SYN flood handling in BPF
firewalls.
- Add code generation to inline the bpf_kptr_xchg() helper which
improves performance when stashing/popping the allocated BPF
objects.
Wireless:
- Add SPP (signaling and payload protected) AMSDU support.
- Support wider bandwidth OFDMA, as required for EHT operation.
Driver API:
- Major overhaul of the Energy Efficient Ethernet internals to
support new link modes (2.5GE, 5GE), share more code between
drivers (especially those using phylib), and encourage more
uniform behavior. Convert and clean up drivers.
- Define an API for querying per netdev queue statistics from
drivers.
- IPSec: account in global stats for fully offloaded sessions.
- Create a concept of Ethernet PHY Packages at the Device Tree level,
to allow parameterizing the existing PHY package code.
- Enable Rx hashing (RSS) on GTP protocol fields.
Misc:
- Improvements and refactoring all over networking selftests.
- Create uniform module aliases for TC classifiers, actions, and
packet schedulers to simplify creating modprobe policies.
- Address all missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() warnings in networking.
- Extend the Netlink descriptions in YAML to cover message
encapsulation or "Netlink polymorphism", where interpretation of
nested attributes depends on link type, classifier type or some
other "class type".
Drivers:
- Ethernet high-speed NICs:
- Add a new driver for Marvell's Octeon PCI Endpoint NIC VF.
- Intel (100G, ice, idpf):
- support E825-C devices
- nVidia/Mellanox:
- support devices with one port and multiple PCIe links

Add an ioctl for getting and setting epoll_params. User programs can use
this ioctl to get and set the busy poll usec time, packet budget, and
prefer busy poll params for a specific epoll context.
Parameters are limited:

Add a new generic ioctls for querying the filesystem UUID.
These are lifted versions of the ext4 ioctls, with one change: we're not
using a flexible array member, because UUIDs will never be more than 16
bytes.
This patch adds a generic implementation of FS_IOC_GETFSUUID, which
reads from super_block->s_uuid. We're not lifting SETFSUUID from ext4 -
that can be done on offline filesystems by the people who need it,
trying to do it online is just asking for too much trouble.

From looking at the PCI IDs, every device supported by intelfb is
also supported by i915. Anyone still using intelfb should please
move on to i915, which does everything intelfb does but better.
Removing intelfb is motivated by the driver's excessive use of the
global screen_info state. The state belongs to architecture and
firmware code; device drivers should not attempt to access it. But
fixing intelfb would require a significant change in the driver's
probing logic. As intelfb has been obsolete for nearly 2 decades,
it is probably not worth the effort. Let's just remove it. Also
remove the related documentation.

Until now the papr_sysparm APIs have been kernel-internal. But user
space needs access to PAPR system parameters too. The only method
available to user space today to get or set system parameters is using
sys_rtas() and /dev/mem to pass RTAS-addressable buffers between user
space and firmware. This is incompatible with lockdown and should be
deprecated.
So provide an alternative ABI to user space in the form of a
/dev/papr-sysparm character device with just two ioctl commands (get
and set). The data payloads involved are small enough to fit in the
ioctl argument buffer, making the code relatively simple.
Exposing the system parameters through sysfs has been considered but
it would be too awkward:
* The kernel currently does not have to contain an exhaustive list of
defined system parameters. This is a convenient property to maintain
because we don't have to update the kernel whenever a new parameter
is added to PAPR. Exporting a named attribute in sysfs for each
parameter would negate this.
* Some system parameters are text-based and some are not.
* Retrieval of at least one system parameter requires input data,
which a simple read-oriented interface can't support.

PowerVM LPARs may retrieve Vital Product Data (VPD) for system
components using the ibm,get-vpd RTAS function.
We can expose this to user space with a /dev/papr-vpd character
device, where the programming model is:
struct papr_location_code plc = { .str = "", }; /* obtain all VPD */
int devfd = open("/dev/papr-vpd", O_RDONLY);
int vpdfd = ioctl(devfd, PAPR_VPD_CREATE_HANDLE, &plc);
size_t size = lseek(vpdfd, 0, SEEK_END);
char *buf = malloc(size);
pread(devfd, buf, size, 0);
When a file descriptor is obtained from ioctl(PAPR_VPD_CREATE_HANDLE),
the file contains the result of a complete ibm,get-vpd sequence. The
file contents are immutable from the POV of user space. To get a new
view of the VPD, the client must create a new handle.
This design choice insulates user space from most of the complexities
that ibm,get-vpd brings:
* ibm,get-vpd must be called more than once to obtain complete
results.
* Only one ibm,get-vpd call sequence should be in progress at a time;
interleaved sequences will disrupt each other. Callers must have a
protocol for serializing their use of the function.
* A call sequence in progress may receive a "VPD changed, try again"
status, requiring the client to abandon the sequence and start
over.
The memory required for the VPD buffers seems acceptable, around 20KB
for all VPD on one of my systems. And the value of the
/rtas/ibm,vpd-size DT property (the estimated maximum size of VPD) is
consistently 300KB across various systems I've checked.
I've implemented support for this new ABI in the rtas_get_vpd()
function in librtas, which the vpdupdate command currently uses to
populate its VPD database. I've verified that an unmodified vpdupdate
binary generates an identical database when using a librtas.so that
prefers the new ABI.
Along with the papr-vpd.h header exposed to user space, this
introduces a common papr-miscdev.h uapi header to share a base ioctl
ID with similar drivers to come.

These char PCMCIA drivers are buggy[1] and receive only minimal care. It
was concluded[2], that we should try to remove most pcmcia drivers
completely. Let's start with these char broken one.
Note that I also removed a UAPI header: include/uapi/linux/cm4000_cs.h.
I found only coccinelle tests mentioning some ioctl constants from that
file. But they are not actually used. Anyway, should someone complain,
we may reintroduce the header (or its parts).

This is the basic infrastructure of a new miscdevice to hold the iommufd
IOCTL API.
It provides:
- A miscdevice to create file descriptors to run the IOCTL interface over
- A table based ioctl dispatch and centralized extendable pre-validation
step
- An xarray mapping userspace ID's to kernel objects. The design has
multiple inter-related objects held within in a single IOMMUFD fd
- A simple usage count to build a graph of object relations and protect
against hostile userspace racing ioctls
The only IOCTL provided in this patch is the generic 'destroy any object
by handle' operation.

DECnet is an obsolete network protocol that receives more attention
from kernel janitors than users. It belongs in computer protocol
history museum not in Linux kernel.
It has been "Orphaned" in kernel since 2010. The iproute2 support
for DECnet was dropped in 5.0 release. The documentation link on
Sourceforge says it is abandoned there as well.
Leave the UAPI alone to keep userspace programs compiling.
This means that there is still an empty neighbour table
for AF_DECNET.
The table of /proc/sys/net entries was updated to match
current directories and reformatted to be alphabetical.

The dpt_i2o driver was fixed to stop using virt_to_bus() in 2008, but it
still has a stale reference in an error handling code path that could never
work. I submitted a patch to fix this reference earlier, but Hannes
Reinecke suggested that removing the driver may be just as good here.
The i2o driver layer was removed in 2015 with commit 4a72a7af462d
("staging: remove i2o subsystem"), but the even older dpt_i2o scsi driver
stayed around.
The last non-cleanup patches I could find were from Miquel van Smoorenburg
and Mark Salyzyn back in 2008, they might know if there is any chance of
the hardware still being used anywhere.

Recent Fam19h EPYC server line of processors from AMD support system
management functionality via HSMP (Host System Management Port) interface.
The Host System Management Port (HSMP) is an interface to provide
OS-level software with access to system management functions via a
set of mailbox registers.
More details on the interface can be found in chapter
"7 Host System Management Port (HSMP)" of the following PPR
https://www.amd.com/system/files/TechDocs/55898_B1_pub_0.50.zip
This patch adds new amd_hsmp module under the drivers/platforms/x86/
which creates miscdevice with an IOCTL interface to the user space.
/dev/hsmp is for running the hsmp mailbox commands.

Introduce the pfr_update driver which can be used for Platform Firmware
Runtime code injection and driver update [1].
The user is expected to provide the EFI capsule, and pass it to the
driver by writing the capsule to a device special file. The capsule
is transferred by the driver to the platform firmware with the help
of an ACPI _DSM method under the special ACPI Platform Firmware
Runtime Update device (INTC1080), and the actual firmware update is
carried out by the low-level Management Mode code in the platform
firmware.
This change allows certain pieces of the platform firmware to be
updated on the fly while the system is running (runtime) without the
need to restart it, which is key in the cases when the system needs to
be available 100% of the time and it cannot afford the downtime related
to restarting it, or when the work carried out by the system is
particularly important, so it cannot be interrupted, and it is not
practical to wait until it is complete.

The current implementation of the CDROM_MEDIA_CHANGED ioctl relies on
global state, meaning that only one process can detect a disc change
while the ioctl call will return 0 for other calling processes afterwards
(see bug 213267).
This introduces a new cdrom ioctl, CDROM_TIMED_MEDIA_CHANGE, that
works by maintaining a timestamp of the last detected disc change instead
of a boolean flag: Processes calling this ioctl command can provide
a timestamp of the last disc change known to them and receive
an indication whether the disc was changed since then and the updated
timestamp.
I considered fixing the buggy behavior in the original
CDROM_MEDIA_CHANGED ioctl but that would require maintaining state
for each calling process in the kernel, which seems like a worse
solution than introducing this new ioctl.

This VDUSE driver enables implementing software-emulated vDPA
devices in userspace. The vDPA device is created by
ioctl(VDUSE_CREATE_DEV) on /dev/vduse/control. Then a char device
interface (/dev/vduse/$NAME) is exported to userspace for device
emulation.
In order to make the device emulation more secure, the device's
control path is handled in kernel. A message mechnism is introduced
to forward some dataplane related control messages to userspace.
And in the data path, the DMA buffer will be mapped into userspace
address space through different ways depending on the vDPA bus to
which the vDPA device is attached. In virtio-vdpa case, the MMU-based
software IOTLB is used to achieve that. And in vhost-vdpa case, the
DMA buffer is reside in a userspace memory region which can be shared
to the VDUSE userspace processs via transferring the shmfd.
For more details on VDUSE design and usage, please see the follow-on
Documentation commit.
NB(mst): when merging this with
b542e383d8c0 ("eventfd: Make signal recursion protection a task bit")
replace eventfd_signal_count with eventfd_signal_allowed,
and drop the previous
("eventfd: Export eventfd_wake_count to modules").

user-space
Currently, debugging unknown events requires writing a custom driver.
This is somewhat difficult, slow to adapt, and not entirely
user-friendly for quickly trying to figure out things on devices of some
third-party user. We can do better. We already have a user-space
interface intended for debugging SAM EC requests, so let's add support
for receiving events to that.
This commit provides support for receiving events by reading from the
controller file. It additionally introduces two new IOCTLs to control
which event categories will be forwarded. Specifically, a user-space
client can specify which target categories it wants to receive events
from by registering the corresponding notifier(s) via the IOCTLs and
after that, read the received events by reading from the controller
device.

Pull tty and serial driver updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of tty and serial driver updates for 5.13-rc1.
Actually busy this release, with a number of cleanups happening:
- much needed core tty cleanups by Jiri Slaby
- removal of unused and orphaned old-style serial drivers. If anyone
shows up with this hardware, it is trivial to restore these but we
really do not think they are in use anymore.
- fixes and cleanups from Johan Hovold on a number of termios setting
corner cases that loads of drivers got wrong as well as removing
unneeded code due to tty core changes from long ago that were never
propagated out to the drivers
- loads of platform-specific serial port driver updates and fixes
- coding style cleanups and other small fixes and updates all over
the tty/serial tree.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while now with no reported
issues"

The Cyclades driver was orphaned by commit d459883e6c54 (MAINTAINERS:
remove two dead e-mail) 13 years ago. Noone stepped up to take care of
them and to fix all the issues the driver has.
On the top of that, there is no way to obtain the firmware for Z cards
from the vendor as cyclades.com ceased to exist.
So it's time to drop the driver with all its traces.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/staging
Pull staging/IIO driver updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of staging and IIO driver updates for 5.13-rc1.
Lots of little churn in here, and some larger churn as well. Major
things are:
- removal of wimax drivers, no one has this hardware anymore for this
failed "experiment".
- removal of the Google gasket driver, turns out no one wanted to
maintain it or cares about it anymore, so they asked for it to be
removed.
- comedi finally moves out of the staging directory into drivers/comedi
This is one of the oldest kernel subsystems around, being created
in the 2.0 kernel days, and was one of the first things added to
drivers/staging/ when that was created over 15 years ago.
It should have been moved out of staging a long time ago, it's well
maintained and used by loads of different devices in the real world
every day. Nice to see this finally happen.
- so many tiny coding style cleanups it's not funny.
Perfect storm of at least 2 different intern project application
deadlines combined to provide a huge number of new contributions in
this area from people learning how to do kernel development. Great
job to everyone involved here.
There's also the normal updates for IIO drivers with new IIO drivers
and updates all over that subsystem.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues"

Currently, only the 'i' 0x90 ioctl() actually exists and is defined in
'include/uapi/linux/iio/events.h'.
It's the IIO_GET_EVENT_FD_IOCTL, which is used to retrieve and FD for
reading events from an IIO device.
We will want to add more ioct() numbers, so with this change the 'i'
0x90-0x9F space is reserved for IIO ioctl() calls.

The Microsoft Surface Book series devices consist of a so-called
clipboard part (containing the CPU, touchscreen, and primary battery)
and a base part (containing keyboard, secondary battery, and optional
discrete GPU). These parts can be separated, i.e. the clipboard can be
detached and used as tablet.
This detachment process is initiated by pressing a button. On the
Surface Book 2 and 3 (targeted with this commit), the Surface Aggregator
Module (i.e. the embedded controller on those devices) attempts to send
a notification to any listening client driver and waits for further
instructions (i.e. whether the detachment process should continue or be
aborted). If it does not receive a response in a certain time-frame, the
detachment process (by default) continues and the clipboard can be
physically separated. In other words, (by default and) without a driver,
the detachment process takes about 10 seconds to complete.
This commit introduces a driver for this detachment system (called DTX).
This driver allows a user-space daemon to control and influence the
detachment behavior. Specifically, it forwards any detachment requests
to user-space, allows user-space to make such requests itself, and
allows handling of those requests. Requests can be handled by either
aborting, continuing/allowing, or delaying (i.e. resetting the timeout
via a heartbeat commend). The user-space API is implemented via the
/dev/surface/dtx miscdevice.
In addition, user-space can change the default behavior on timeout from
allowing detachment to disallowing it, which is useful if the (optional)
discrete GPU is in use.
Furthermore, this driver allows user-space to receive notifications
about the state of the base, specifically when it is physically removed
(as opposed to detachment requested), in what manner it is connected
(i.e. in reverse-/tent-/studio- or laptop-mode), and what type of base
is connected. Based on this information, the driver also provides a
simple tablet-mode switch (aliasing all modes without keyboard access,
i.e. tablet-mode and studio-mode to its reported tablet-mode).
An implementation of such a user-space daemon, allowing configuration of
detachment behavior via scripts (e.g. safely unmounting USB devices
connected to the base before continuing) can be found at [1].

The VM management interfaces expose several VM operations to ACRN
userspace via ioctls. For example, creating VM, starting VM, destroying
VM and so on.
The ACRN Hypervisor needs to exchange data with the ACRN userspace
during the VM operations. HSM provides VM operation ioctls to the ACRN
userspace and communicates with the ACRN Hypervisor for VM operations
via hypercalls.
HSM maintains a list of User VM. Each User VM will be bound to an
existing file descriptor of /dev/acrn_hsm. The User VM will be
destroyed when the file descriptor is closed.
