* ASoC: Constify return of snd_soc_dai_get_pcm_stream()Krzysztof Kozlowski2024-06-181-13/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | Returned 'struct snd_soc_pcm_stream' by snd_soc_dai_get_pcm_stream() is not modified by the users, so it can be changed as pointer to const. This is a necessary step towards making the 'dai->driver' a pointer to const. Highlights include: - Enhanced support for N:M CPU:CODEC mappings in the core and in audio-graph-card2. - Support for falling back to older SOF IPC versions where firmware for new versions is not available. - Support for notification of control changes generated by SOF firmware with IPC4. - Device tree support for describing parts of the card which can be active over suspend (for very low power playback or wake word use cases). - ACPI parsing support for the ES83xx driver, reducing the number of quirks neede for x86 systems. - Support for more AMD and Intel systems, NXP i.MX8m MICFIL, Qualcomm SM8250, SM8550, SM8650 and X1E80100. - Removal of Freescale MPC8610 support, the SoC is no longer supported by Linux.

| |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A recent change to address pops and clicks with codecs like WSA883X touched the same code paths as a fix for clearing DAI parameters and resulted in a bad merge. Specifically, commit f0220575e65a ("ASoC: soc-dai: add flag to mute and unmute stream during trigger") made mute at stream close conditional, while commit 3efcb471f871 ("ASoC: soc-pcm.c: Make sure DAI parameters cleared if the DAI becomes inactive") moved that same mute call back to soc_pcm_hw_clean(). Fix up the bad merge by dropping the second mute call from soc_pcm_clean() and making sure that the call in soc_pcm_hw_clean() is conditional as intended. |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Subformat options are ignored when setting up hardware parameters and assigning PCM stream capabilities. Account for them to allow for granular format selection. As there is only one user currently (format S32_LE), subformat is represented by a simple u32 and stores flags only for that one user alone. Such approach allows for alloc/free-less code until there are more users on the horizon. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In some setups like Speaker amps which are very sensitive, ex: keeping them unmute without actual data stream for very short duration results in a static charge and results in pop and clicks. * | ASoC: soc-pcm.c: Make sure DAI parameters cleared if the DAI becomes inactiveChancel Liu2023-09-271-7/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The commit 1da681e52853 ("ASoC: soc-pcm.c: Clear DAIs parameters after stream_active is updated") tries to make sure DAI parameters can be cleared properly through moving the cleanup to the place where stream active status is updated. However, it will cause the cleanup only happening in soc_pcm_close(). Suppose a case: aplay -Dhw:0 44100.wav 48000.wav. The case calls soc_pcm_open()->soc_pcm_hw_params()->soc_pcm_hw_free()-> soc_pcm_hw_params()->soc_pcm_hw_free()->soc_pcm_close() in order. The parameters would be remained in the system even if the playback of 44100.wav is finished. The case requires us clearing parameters in phase of soc_pcm_hw_free(). However, moving the DAI parameters cleanup back to soc_pcm_hw_free() has the risk that DAIs parameters never be cleared if there're more than one stream, see commit 1da681e52853 ("ASoC: soc-pcm.c: Clear DAIs parameters after stream_active is updated") for more details. To meet all these requirements, in addition to do DAI parameters cleanup in soc_pcm_hw_free(), also check it in soc_pcm_close() to make sure DAI parameters cleared if the DAI becomes inactive. * ASoC: soc-pcm: Shrink stack frame for __soc_pcm_hw_paramsCharles Keepax2023-09-111-12/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit ac950278b087 ("ASoC: add N cpus to M codecs dai link support") added an additional local params in __soc_pcm_hw_params, for the CPU side of the DAI. The snd_pcm_hw_params struct is pretty large (604 bytes) and keeping two local copies of it can make the stack frame really large. It is worth noting the variables are in separate code blocks so for some optimisation levels in the compiler these will get automatically combined keeping the stack frame reasonable. But better to manually combine them to cover all cases. Add a single local variable for __soc_pcm_hw_params and use in both loops to shrink the stack frame. Change the actual "no backend DAIs enabled for ... Port" error to dev_err_once() to avoid it getting repeated 48 times. While at it also improve the error by hinting the user how to fix this. To not make developing new UCM profiles harder, also log the error at dev_dbg() level all the time (vs once). So that e.g. dyndbg can be used to (re)enable the messages. Also changes _soc_pcm_ret() to not log for -EINVAL errors, to fix the other error getting logged 48 times. Userspace passing wrong parameters should not lead to dmesg messages. |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For following the ALSA PCM core change, a new PCM copy ops is added toe ASoC component framework: snd_soc_component_driver receives the copy ops, and snd_soc_pcm_component_copy() helper is provided. This also fixes a long-standing potential bug where the ASoC driver covers only copy_user PCM callback and misses the copy from kernel pointers (such as OSS PCM layer), too. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the BE hw_params configuration, the existing code checks if any of the existing FEs are prepared, running, paused or suspended - and skips the configuration in those cases. This allows multiple calls of hw_params which the ALSA state machine supports. This check is not handled for the prepare stage, which can lead to the same BE being prepared multiple times. This patch adds a check similar to that of the hw_params, with the main difference being that the suspended state is allowed: the ALSA state machine allows a transition from suspended to prepared with hw_params skipped. This problem was detected on Intel IPC4/SoundWire devices, where the BE dailink .prepare stage is used to configure the SoundWire stream with a bank switch. Multiple .prepare calls lead to conflicts with the .trigger operation with IPC4 configurations. This problem was not detected earlier on Intel devices, HDaudio BE dailinks detect that the link is already prepared and skip the configuration, and for IPC3 devices there is no BE trigger. * | | ASoC: add N cpus to M codecs dai link supportBard Liao2023-06-131-4/+40
|/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, ASoC supports dailinks with the following mappings: 1 cpu DAI to N codec DAIs N cpu DAIs to N codec DAIs But the mapping between N cpu DAIs and M codec DAIs is not supported. The reason is that we didn't have a mechanism to map cpu and codec DAIs This patch suggests a new snd_soc_dai_link_codec_ch_map struct in struct snd_soc_dai_link{} which provides codec DAI to cpu DAI mapping information used to implement N cpu DAIs to M codec DAIs support. When a dailink contains two or more cpu DAIs, we should set channel number of cpus based on its channel mask. The new struct also provides channel mask information for each codec and we can construct the cpu channel mask by combining all codec channel masks which map to the cpu. The N:M mapping is however restricted to the N <= M case due to physical restrictions on a time-multiplexed bus such as I2S/TDM, AC97, SoundWire and HDaudio. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | soc-pcm.c has snd_soc_dpcm_mutex_lock/unlock(), but other files can't use it because it is static function. * ASoC: soc-pcm.c: Clear DAIs parameters after stream_active is updatedChancel Liu2022-12-071-10/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | DAIs parameters should be cleared if there's no active stream. Before, we implemented it in soc_pcm_hw_free() by detecting stream_active. If the running stream is the last active stream, we're going to clear parameters. However it will cause DAIs parameters never be cleared if there're more than one stream. For example, we have stream1 and stream2 about to stop. stream2 executes soc_pcm_hw_free() before stream1 executes soc_pcm_close(). At the moment, stream2 should clear DAIs parameters. Since stream_active is not yet updated by stream1 in soc_pcm_close(), stream2 will not clear DAIs parameters. In result both stream1 and stream2 don't clear the parameters. This patch moves DAIs parameters cleanup after stream_active is updated. | * ASoC: soc-pcm: Don't zero TDM masks in __soc_pcm_open()Richard Fitzgerald2022-11-101-5/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The DAI tx_mask and rx_mask are set by snd_soc_dai_set_tdm_slot() and used by later code that depends on the TDM settings. So __soc_pcm_open() should not be obliterating those mask values. The code in __soc_pcm_hw_params() uses these masks to calculate the active channels so that only the AIF_IN/AIF_OUT widgets for the active TDM slots are enabled. The zeroing of the masks in __soc_pcm_open() disables this functionality so all AIF widgets were enabled even for channels that are not assigned to a TDM slot.
