<p>Arizona’s largest county shattered its record for heat-related deaths in 2023.<p>
<p>At least 645 people in Maricopa County – home of Phoenix and many of its suburbs – died from heat-related causes last year, and such number has been increasing since 2014.</p>
<p>Besides global warming, social issues such as homelessness are also reasons of the increasing death toll.</p>
<p>In the future, such trend is expected to continue and even worsen.</p>
